The dates: Dev Uthani (Prabodhini) Ekadashi is on Friday, November 20, 2026, and Tulsi Vivah on Saturday, November 21, according to Drik Panchang (New Delhi timings). Chaturmas ends with Dev Uthani Ekadashi, and the first auspicious marriage muhurat of the season is on November 21 itself. There are 11 vivah muhurat dates left in 2026: November 21, 24, 25 and 26, and December 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 11 and 12.

Tulsi Vivah, the ceremonial marriage of the tulsi plant to Lord Vishnu in his Shaligram form, falls on Saturday, November 21, 2026. It comes the day after Dev Uthani Ekadashi, when Lord Vishnu is believed to wake from his four-month yogic sleep, which ends Chaturmas and reopens the Hindu wedding season.

Why Tulsi Vivah matters for weddings

Many Hindu families don't hold weddings during Chaturmas, the four months when Lord Vishnu is believed to rest. Dev Uthani Ekadashi marks the end of that period, and Tulsi Vivah is traditionally treated as the first wedding of the season. In much of north and west India, families begin fixing dates, sending cards and booking venues around this festival.

This year the calendar lines up neatly: Drik Panchang's 2026 marriage calendar shows Chaturmas restrictions ending on November 20, and the first auspicious muhurat on November 21, the same day as Tulsi Vivah.

Vivah muhurat dates left in 2026

Drik Panchang lists four auspicious marriage days in November and seven in December 2026 (New Delhi, Panchang Shuddhi only):

December 11Friday03:04 AM to 07:04 AM (Dec 12)
December 12Saturday07:04 AM to 03:27 AM (Dec 13)

After December 12 the calendar closes again: Drik Panchang marks the days from mid-December as a prohibited solar month (the Kharmas period), beginning partly on December 16. Couples who miss the December dates will be looking at the new year. Drik Panchang also notes that these dates check Panchang Shuddhi only, so families usually confirm the final muhurat with a pandit using both partners' details. For a month-by-month view, see our earlier report on wedding dates in November and December 2026.

How big is the wedding season?

The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) usually publishes an estimate of the season's weddings and spending. Its most recent estimate, for last year, projected about 46 lakh weddings between November 1 and December 14, 2025, generating around ₹6.5 lakh crore in business, according to CAIT's press release. CAIT has not yet released a figure for the 2026 season that we could find. With only 11 muhurat dates left this year, venues, caterers and decorators are likely to be heavily booked on the peak days.

Getting married on one of these dates? What to do now

  1. Lock the muhurat and the venue first. Peak dates, especially Saturdays (November 21, December 5 and December 12), fill up fastest.
  2. Send invitations 3 to 4 weeks before. For a November 24–26 wedding, that means this week; for early December, by mid-November.
  3. Go digital for speed. A WhatsApp invitation reaches every relative the same day. Our guide to sending a wedding invitation on WhatsApp covers the etiquette.
  4. Get the wording right. See our Hindu wedding invitation wording in Hindi and English for samples for every ceremony.

If you need an invitation quickly, Eventic's wedding invitation designs include RSVP, a venue map, a countdown and one-tap WhatsApp sharing, and paid designs start at ₹299 as a one-time payment.
