Anniversary Invitation Messages for WhatsApp: 32 Samples for Every Milestone

Page Navigation

Most anniversary invitations aren't written by the couple. They're written by their children — usually a daughter in her thirties, usually at 11 PM, usually trying to word something that honours her parents without sounding like a greeting card that's been left in the sun.

That's the harder version, so most of this page is built for it. Couple-hosted samples are here too, further down.

One quick clarification, because these two get mixed up constantly: an anniversary wish goes to the couple. An anniversary invitation goes to guests. Everything below is the second kind.

The 25th and 50th get different wording — here's the actual difference

Milestone anniversaries carry weight that a seventh doesn't, and the wording should reflect it without tipping into obituary-speak.

MilestoneTone that worksTone that doesn't
1stPlayful, small gatheringGrand, formal
10th / 15thWarm, casual, friends-heavyCeremonial
25th (silver)Proud, family-centred, some formalityOverly sentimental
50th (golden)Reverent, blessings-led, larger guest listJokes about age
60th+Short, gentle, blessings onlyAnything long

The pattern: the older the milestone, the shorter and warmer the message, and the more the word "blessings" earns its place.

More Devanagari sets, across every function, are in the Hindi invitation message collection — worth using if the guest list is mostly your parents' generation, since a Hindi message from a child inviting people to their parents' function lands considerably better than an English one.

Anniversary puja and satyanarayan katha invites

Many families mark the milestone with a puja in the morning and the party in the evening. Two separate guest lists, usually — and that means two separate messages, not one message with both events crammed in.

🙏 Satyanarayan puja on the occasion of our parents' 50th anniversary. Sunday, 6 December · 10:00 AM Residence, 44 Kasturba Road, Chennai [Maps link] Prasad and lunch after the katha.

If both events are open to everyone, put the puja first and the party second in the same message, each on its own line with its own time. Never merge them into a single time range — people read "10 AM – 9 PM" as a typo.

Sending it: the bit that trips people up

Anniversary lists are lopsided. Two-thirds of the guests are your parents' friends, most of whom don't have your number saved — and a WhatsApp broadcast only reaches contacts who've saved the sender's number. Send from your phone and a large chunk of the invites will silently never arrive. No error, no bounce.

The fix is boring and it works: your parents' contacts get messaged from your parents' phones. Draft it, hand them the phone, done. For everyone else, batch it yourself. The main WhatsApp invitation guide covers the batching limits and why the failure is invisible.

Getting a headcount without ten reminder messages

Anniversary parties are almost always per-plate catered, and the count matters. Ask a closed question, once:

Quick one for the caterer 🙏 — how many from your family for Sunday? Just reply with a number.

Then one reminder five days out and one the day before. That's it. If your parents' list runs past sixty households, counting replies across sixty chats stops being manageable fast — attaching an RSVP to the invite link collects them into one list, which matters more here than at most functions because the guest list is largely people you don't personally know.

If you do one thing beyond the wording: ask each guest to bring one photograph from any year of the marriage, mentioned in a second line of the invite. It costs nothing, and by 9 PM there's a table of them that ends up being the whole evening.

Which leads to the three things actually worth buying for a milestone anniversary, and they're all the same idea — the photographs are the gift.

A multi-photo collage frame. Twelve or fifteen openings, filled with one picture per five years. A multi-photo collage frame is the single most-kept thing anyone gives at a 50th, and it costs less than the flowers. Order it three weeks out — you'll need that long to prise old photographs out of four different relatives.

A printed photo book. Better than the frame if the family has hundreds of pictures rather than fifteen. Photo album and scrapbook options run from cheap adhesive albums to properly bound ones; for a golden anniversary, spend the extra and get something with a spine that will survive being handled by ninety guests in one night.

A decoration kit, only if it's a home party. Silver and golden anniversary decoration kits cover the backdrop and the numerals for less than a decorator's minimum charge. At a banquet hall this is money wasted — the venue already has a stage.

One genuine warning: don't buy the couple a gift and ask guests not to bring gifts. Pick one. Parents notice the inconsistency immediately and will spend the evening quietly asking people whether they were supposed to bring something.

For 25th and 50th anniversaries, children hosting is the norm, and the message should say so ("we invite you to celebrate our parents…"). For smaller milestones, the couple sends it themselves.
Yes, and for a 50th it's almost expected. Keep it to one short line. Skip "your presence is our present" — it's been used to death and now reads as filler.
hree weeks for a banquet-hall party, two for a home dinner. Reminder five days out, final nudge the day before.
Then send a quieter invite for a lunch or a puja. A forced surprise party for people who'd rather have twelve relatives over is a gift for the children, not the parents.
